In Cheryl Strayed's memoir, Wild, she refers to her hiking pack as Monster. Her story of solo-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail is a major inspiration for my trip. My Monster is a different sort of pack (i.e. not one I carry on my back for miles), but she'll still be my constant companion in this adventure, so it felt like a fitting name.
